Meet Your Division Leader

Dawn Shedrick

Suffolk Division Director

Dawn E. Shedrick is a clinical social worker, educator, consultant, and writer dedicated to supporting family caregivers, trauma survivors, and LGBTQIA+ communities. She is the founder and principal of JenTex Training & Consulting, a continuing education firm for health and human services professionals. Drawing from her lived experience as a long-time caregiver, Dawn creates tools and trainings that promote healing from stress and burnout.

Dawn has facilitated wellness programs for major organizations including GE, Canon USA, the NY Mets, and JPMorgan Chase, delivering sessions across the U.S. and internationally. She teaches at Columbia University School of Social Work, where she received the Steven P. Schinke Teaching Innovation Award, and is a doctoral candidate in Adult Learning and Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University.

As the NASW-NYS Suffolk Division Director, Dawn is committed to cultivating professional community, advancing social work entrepreneurship, and promoting inclusive policy advocacy and leadership development.
