Position Details

Vice President

Term: 1 year Time: ~20 hrs/month
Required Activities
  • Fulfills duties of President in the President’s absence.
  • Attends & participates in all Board meetings.
  • Quarterly Executive Committee teleconference meetings.
  • Represents the President as requested.
  • Reviews Board materials before meetings.
  • Attends monthly Local Steering Committee meetings.
  • Additional meetings as needed.
  • Training: Provided by Chapter personnel and transitional Board meeting.
Required Skill Sets / Experience
  • Commitment to NASW–NY mission.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of governance boards, personnel policy, and by-laws.
  • Strong interpersonal & task orientation skills.
Interests / Strengths
  • Attention to detail
  • Group facilitation

* Active NASW–NY membership required.

MSW Representative

Term: 1 year Time: ~5 hrs/month
Required Activities
  • Attends & participates in all Board meetings.
  • Serves on a Chapter committee as requested by the President.
  • Reviews Board materials before meetings.
  • Attends monthly Local Steering Committee meetings.
  • Engages students statewide; brings issues to the Board.
  • Training: Provided by Chapter personnel and transitional Board meeting.
Required Skill Sets / Experience

  • Strong written & verbal communication.
  • Organization & task prioritization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

* Must be a current MSW student during the term. Active NASW–NY membership required.

BSW Representative

Term: 1 year Time: ~5 hrs/month
Required Activities
  • Attends & participates in all Board meetings.
  • Serves on a Chapter committee as requested by the President.
  • Reviews Board materials before meetings.
  • Attends monthly Local Steering Committee meetings.
  • Engages BSW students statewide; reports issues to the Board.
  • Training: Provided by Chapter personnel and transitional Board meeting.

Term: 2 years Time: ~10 hrs/month
Required Activities
  • Attends & participates in all Board meetings.
  • Facilitates Division Steering Committee meetings.
  • Plans membership engagement & professional development with staff to meet strategic goals.
  • Manages Division budget per Chapter policies.
  • Coordinates with CNLI, Advocacy & Govt Relations, and PACE leaders.
  • Member of CNLI.
  • Training: Provided by Chapter personnel at transitional Board meeting.
Required Skill Sets / Experience

  • Leadership experience or prior Division/Chapter involvement preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate conversations among members with diverse perspectives.
