Neglect accounts for more than three-quarters of all child maltreatment reports — yet it remains the least likely to be substantiated. This session examines the legal and ethical obligations of mandated reporters, explores types of child neglect (physical, medical, and educational), and addresses complex issues like parental supervision and corporal punishment. Participants will leave with practical frameworks for deciding when to report and how to support family functioning.

This training deepens clinical competency in assessing and treating suicidal ideation and self-injurious behaviors across the lifespan. Drawing on evidence-based CBT and DBT approaches, participants will gain practical frameworks for evaluating risk, building collaborative safety plans, and implementing emotion-regulation and distress-tolerance techniques. Guidance on engaging and supporting caregivers is woven throughout.

Social workers play a central role in ensuring safe, effective transitions after psychiatric hospitalizations and emergency visits — yet timely follow-up remains a persistent challenge. This webinar examines the NCQA FUH and FUM quality measures, exploring how 7-day follow-up reduces risks including medication non-adherence, suicidal ideation, relapse, and avoidable readmissions across the lifespan. Participants will gain practical strategies for strengthening care transitions, coordinating essential supports, and advocating for system improvements across hospitals, clinics, community behavioral health programs, and FQHCs.
