Join NASW-NY and the NYC Health Department for a NY–focused discussion on current immigration updates and key information social workers should be aware of. This session will explore emerging issues affecting immigrant communities in NY State, recent federal policy developments, and foundational considerations for social work practice and advocacy across NYS communities.

This second session in collaboration with the NYC Health Department will provide social workers with practical tools, strategies, and resources to support immigrant communities amid rapidly evolving federal policies and enforcement realities. Participants will explore approaches to addressing core support needs, including access to health care, community services, language access, crisis response, and culturally responsive care across practice settings in NYS, drawing on resources such as the NYC Health Immigrant Health Resources.

This NASW-NY C.A.R.E.S. event will help participants identify where their experience may be undersold and learn how to communicate their expertise more clearly and effectively. Rather than focusing on a complete resume or LinkedIn overhaul, participants will explore how to move beyond vague, task-based descriptions and begin highlighting their specialties, strengths, scope, and impact.
