Trends: Clinical Interventions/Diagnosis and Mental Health led all categories, reflecting sustained demand for skills-based clinical training. Ethics/Boundaries and Child Welfare directly supported NYSED requirements. Macro and emerging areas — Policy, Community Organizing, Public Health/SDOH, Rural Social Work — appeared less often, marking an opportunity for more balanced micro/mezzo/macro programming ahead.










Compliance-Based Programming


Continued compliance with state requirements — high-demand ethics and mandated content delivered consistently, including 4 NYSED Mandated Reporter trainings with Dr. Krase.




Series-Based Learning


Series formats supported deeper learning and repeat engagement:



  • Three-part series: Artificial Intelligence in Social Work

  • Three-part series: Ketamine-Assisted Therapy

  • 3 Solution-Focused CEs (Hudson Valley Solution-Focused Group)

CE Taskforce — Centering Member Voice




Launched in July 2025 to ensure members have a direct voice in shaping continuing education programming. The Taskforce consists of 14 members representing a wide range of practice areas and professional experiences, focused on identifying emerging practice needs, recruiting diverse presenters, and contributing to a more inclusive, relevant CE calendar.

DC 37 Partnership




In 2025, NASW-NY continued its collaboration with DC 37 to deliver 45 CE credits through 15 programs, supporting social workers and related professionals in public sector and unionized settings. Programming emphasized practical, workforce-relevant content and clinical/ethical considerations specific to public service roles, with scheduling prioritized for weekday evenings and weekends to accommodate full-time work schedules.








Looking Ahead: What's Coming in 2026




Several 2026 CE offerings have already been scheduled based on repeated themes and requests identified in 2025 evaluations:



  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Two-part School Social Work series

  • Artificial Intelligence in Social Work

  • Autism and Trauma



Expanded Free & Member-Focused Access


Approximately 20 Free VMHTI CEs (2026):



  • March 2026 — two live virtual sessions (4 CEs)

  • April 2026 — one in-person session (4 CEs)

  • August 2026 — virtual VMHTI conference (10 free CEs)

  • Winter 2026 — one live virtual training


Member-Exclusive Free CEs (2026):



  • March (Social Work Month) — 3 free CEs

  • April (Autism Awareness Month) — 3 free CEs

  • June (Pride Month) — 1.5 free CEs

  • September (Suicide Prevention) — 3 free CEs


In response to demand for more time to develop and apply skills, 2026 CE offerings will range from 1 to 16 hours, with most extended trainings structured as 3-hour CEs.
